A little Friday smile from us all at Bulb… We’re not taking credit for this, but it appeals to the designer in us:

And that lead us onto this which will raise a smile, designer or not – brilliant:

After a very busy, almost footy-less 2008, Mat & Jim thought it about time they took some time to show their support for their beloved Leicester City and went along to the game against Brighton on Tuesday night…  The weather was ugly, the beer weak and the game fruitless and disappointing… But on the bright side, Jim really enjoyed his Pukka Balti Pie… Surely Leicester have to have the best pies in league 1?

Hmmm Balti!

Mr Lamacq shouted us out again today, and most unexpectedly played us a tune…  What a lovely lovely man!  Thanks Steve and the team at BBC 6 Music – WYOBTTW is in the calendar for next year when we’ll better recognition by the Queen and go for Elvis’!

Just as promised the Queen stopped by to officially recognise WYOBTTWD and disappointed she was not with the Tees on display at Bulb Studios…

The Queen is coming...

The Queen's almost here...

The Queen is coming...

And there they were!

And there they were!

Although, due to the temperature, they were covered up, Big Phil reliably informed me that Her Majesty was sporting an ironic neon pink 1996 Spice Girls vest-top (to go with the outfit) and the Duke himself had his ‘77 God Save The Queen (No irony involved) vest – complete with safety-pinned sides and original spit stains from that classic Manchester gig.  Y’know the one that gave Tony Wilson the idea for Factory Records – apparently Mick Hucknall was there too and the Duke quite liked him personally, although he thinks Simply Red are Simply Awful apparently.

BAND TEES ON THE RADIO!

So taken with the ‘Wear your old band T-shirt to work day’ concept was Mat, he decided that he’d try to get the Royal stamp of approval when the Queen visits our fine city tomorrow by getting the whole team to attend the ribbon cutting in their tees… So with his great idea at the forefront of his mind, he sent Steve Lamacq’s 6Music show an email to let them know about Bulb’s support for the campaign.  They liked the idea so much that they invited Mat onto the show and here’s the result:

Let’s hope that the Queen recognises the day formally next year by wearing her ‘77 vintage Pistols’ God Save the Queen Tee – we all know she was there because she’s not only on the cover, but she’s named-checked in the lyrics – the real IT girl and no-fakin’!

THIS IS NOT COOL:

NOT COOL PARIS!

NOT COOL PARIS!

If you agree, join Steve Lamacq’s rebellion against these fakers and wear your old band T-Shirt to work on WEAR YOUR OLD BAND T-SHIRT TO WORK DAY – this Thursday – 4th December 2008 – GET INVOLVED!

For too long we have stood aside and watched in silence as so called ‘It Girls’ have paraded around LA and London in Led Zeppelin and Ramones T-shirts – attempting to purchase some credibility but in turn suggesting that the band shirt is nothing more than a fashion accessory.

But no longer! We say dig out your T-shirts and be proud! Show them we care who we wear on our chests; and that we are not going to stand idly by as they undermine the lost art of showing people “we were there at the Brixton Academy in 1998″ or “we travelled all the way to Wolverhampton on a Tuesday in November and still have the shirt to prove it.”

Check the BBC 6 Music Site for more details.

Flowered Up!

Our new stationery arrived recently, but we couldn’t see such things of beauty merely tossed aside after the original purpose we attached to them was fulfilled…

So we provided everyone with the instructions to turn the letterhead into beautiful flowers with which to adorn their workspace… Gala got busy with some in the studio and made a wonderful display I’m sure you’ll agree…

Very soon Gala will also be the star of a series of tutorials, right here on the blog, to show you how to make your own, but in the meantime why not call us or pop by and we might pass on a sheet or two if you ask nicely, you might get the full set if you comission some work ;0)
